We have destroyed the Death Star. Yes indeed, the halting of the planned expansion of the GRA has not only got rid of Self-ID, it has also got Mermaids and its associates out of English schools. However, the Sith lords are planning a counter-attack against the rebel alliance...
The heroes
Depicted in the image on the left are the main players in this fight from my point of view, i.e. they're the people I had the most dealings with or learned the most from. They include the author JK Rowling (who deserves a spot on Badass of the Week for what she's done), activist Emma Palermo, Dr. Jane Clare Jones, activist Kellie-Jay Keen-Minshull (Posey Parker), transsexual activist Scott Newgent of TrEVoices, Baroness Emma Nicholson, feminist columnist Julie Bindel, feminist academic Dr. Maya Forstater, family lawyer Sarah Phillimore, scriptwriter and professional hornet Graham Linehan, transsexual science teacher and trade unionist Dr. Debbie Hayton, activist and transsexual elven princess Fionne Orlander, transsexual businessman Buck "Tranpa" Angel, and feminist academic Dr. Kathleen Stock. I'd be remiss if I didn't give a shoutout to Safe Schools Alliance and Transgender Trend, who did sterling work behind the scenes and are working to ensure that kids are no longer being transed by the schools behind their parents' backs.
How they did it
Rowling got the ball rolling by standing up for Dr. Forstater. The banning of Posie Parker brought the fight into sharp relief by demonstrating the second-class status of gender critical women. Dr. Jones, Ms. Bindel, Dr. Stock and Ms. Phillimore helped articulate and explain the legal and social implications. The Baroness gave us access to Parliamentary figures and directed us to the people most willing to listen to our concerns. Graham peaked me over and over again by demonstrating that "trans" is not about the harmless Hayley from Coronation St. transsexuals I sympathise with, it's about creepy fetishists gaining access to women-only spaces. Transsexuals are actually a marginalised group in a movement that's ostensibly about meeting their needs. Finally, our trans allies Debbie, Fionne, Buck, and Scott were invaluable in giving us a transsexual's eye view of the situation, enabling us to frame our arguments in terms of positioning ourselves as a separate group with equality demands and needs as deserving of respect and recognition as those of trans folk — at great personal cost.
The villains
The villains include Stonewall, Mermaids, most of the opposition parties, a few Tories, and the shadowy lobbyists funding them. Add the woke and their preferred media outlets, and you've got an empire of evil determined to crush biological women underfoot if they don't amen the gender identity gospel. They're still accusing us of bigotry.
What they did next
Crispin Blunt, a prominent Tory, was so angry with Minister for Women and for Equalities Liz Truss, he wanted her stripped of her Equalities portfolio because she upheld the Equality Act 2010 per my request in the Open Letter. Mermaids has done the most amazing reverse ferret, pretending they never suggested that some kids were born in the wrong body or that they are trans because they don't conform to traditional gender stereotypes. Okay, that's fine, we've got the receipts. There has also been a lot of moaning from the usual suspects along the lines of, "How could you be so cruel to trans people?" while denying that obliterating women's sex-based rights to accommodate a range of fetishists, etc., who don't suffer from dysphoria would be a nasty thing to do.
There's more to be done
Our civil service, politicians, much of the media, and political parties are still captured by the gender identity lobby. We've got to crowbar them out one at a time, and as far as I'm aware, the only way to do it is via lawsuits; they don't like sunlight. Keira Bell's case is coming up next Thursday, I'll be keeping an eye on that. Across the globe, feminists are banding together to report on what is happening in their countries and to help each other out. Ireland is labouring under a pall of fear because people are afraid to speak out. The same applies all over Europe, per today's Zoom meeting of the Women's Human Rights campaign that I watched today. It's shocking how firmly the gender identity ideologues have got them locked down, but encouraging to note that women are organizing. We will prevail.
Beware the saboteurs
It doesn't help when people ostensibly on our side bash our allies in order to "purify" gender critical feminism. Whether Joey Brite likes it or not, she doesn't own any aspect of feminism, gender critical or otherwise. We won this fight by making common cause with people being hurt by gender identity ideology. We banded together with straight men, gay men, lesbians, transsexuals, Tories, and at least one Satanist to get the job done. I'm a Bible-believing Christian, for goodness' sake, I shouldn't be associating with Tories. I'm kidding!! The point is, we can't win this fight as a small group intent on maintaining the purity of feminism by keeping men out of the equation. This fight isn't about feminism or any other ism. It's about getting our freedom back and maintaining our sex-based rights and sex-segregated spaces. Anyone who thinks otherwise is not thinking tactically and is going to undo our gains if they get their own way. I'm pleased to say the GC community on Twitter immediately ran to the Four Horsemen of the GC Apocalypse and told them we do not agree with that flippin' hit job and that Joey is a clueless idiot with more of an interest in keeping the situation going than in solving problems.
Let's work together
I'm heartened to note that a petition I started a couple of weeks ago to protest a petition to ban Abigail Shrier's Irreversible Damage has passed the 3,000 mark. Following a bit of a moan when I feared it wouldn't even hit 2,500 and I was begging for every signature, it took off and now is set to hit the 5.000 target. This is a great example of what it's like when we work together. We need victories like this. I hope that we can continue to work together, rag-tag bunch of rebels that we are. Let's work through our differences and push until we can speak freely without being accused of bigotry just for stating facts, until women's sex-based rights are secure, and people can date whoever they want without being policed about their preferences. We can only do this if we work together and make the most of our differences instead of trying to impose our views on others. We can do this. Let's get it done.
